Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Beaufort, NC restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • To start, have your group agree to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Luxury Oceanfront Home: Private Pool, Elevator Access, Game Room & More! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email the host before you book your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a specific Beaufort, NC beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
