Strategies to get the best rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best rental in the Beaufort, NC area:

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Moonlight Studio 218 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
