Strategies to get the optimal rental experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Beaufort, NC vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local shops and restaurants.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Beaufort, NC area:

  • First, have your family agree to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. SINGLE Family Ocean Front - Howard's Hideaway has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
