How to get the best Beaufort, NC vacation property experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to choose the best vacation rental:

  • Start by having your group select the best dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Stunning oceanfront views just steps from the deck; steps, sand, waves! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
