Tricks and tips to get the very best Beaufort, NC rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area travel guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • First, have your family choose trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Waterfront Home with Dock - Short walk to Ocean - Fish from the Dock has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
