Rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:

  • Summer months are high season in the Beaufort, NC area. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • In the Beaufort, NC area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, NC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. A cozy retreat 5 min. from the Beach and located at The Point of Emerald Isle. has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a particular Beaufort, NC attraction you are enamored with, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
