Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Beaufort, NC vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, NC area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • To start, have your family commit to trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Sand Castle, Oceanside House in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
  • If there's an individual Beaufort, NC destination you long to visit, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
