Tips to get the best Beaufort, NC vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer time is high season in the Beaufort, NC area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Condo with on-site beach access, pools, grill\/picnic areas, & private balcony has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
  • If there's an individual Beaufort, NC destination you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
