Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Beaufort. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Beaufort, NC trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

How to pick the best rental home:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Why Knot Getaway…Rooftop with WaterView! Unit E has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a particular Beaufort, NC attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
