Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, picking, and booking the right Beaufort, NC vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. SeaSpray 354, Oceanview Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
  • If there's a specific Beaufort, NC attraction you long to visit, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
